The intensive couple’s therapy is structured as follows:
Friday: Intensive couple’s counselling begins at 3:00pm and ends at 7:00pm. There are two hours of couple’s therapy with both partners present and a one-hour individual session with each partner. You will be given a homework assignment to complete on your own on Friday evening.
Saturday: Day two consists of both a morning couple’s therapy session and an afternoon couple’s therapy session, ending at 5:00 pm with a break in the middle. Together we will decide how you may wish to use the break. Options include completing additional homework assignments, relaxing on your own, and spending time together.
Sunday: Day three of the intensive consists of a morning couple’s therapy session and an afternoon session, with a break in between. The intensive experience ends at 5:00 pm.
The advantage of intensive couple’s therapy is that you have the opportunity to focus in on your relationship, covering a lot of ground in a short period of time. This intense format requires a lot of energy. Intensive couple’s counselling works best if both partners are able to clear their schedules of other obligations for the entire three days.
